Thinking about gifts

My grandparents are really hard to buy gifts for because they always say that they have everything they need and there is nothing that they want.

I was thinking of getting them a framed portrait of DH, the kids and me. To them, family means everything and the walls in my grandparents’ house are filled with photos of the family.

I was thinking about getting them a digital frame but I doubt that they would understand how to use it so I think I’d better go with a normal wooden frame.

Chucking it up!

I hate being sick. I’m talking about the type of sick when you’re stuck with your head down the toilet and it feels like your whole stomach is going to come up, ya know?

That’s how I felt on Sunday night. It came on really quickly too. I was fine all day and then, we had some friends over on Sunday night. All of a sudden, I felt so sick that I felt that I had to go lie down because it felt so horrible. I tell you, if I keep throwing up like this I won’t need the hoodia tablets that I was thinking of getting…lol

The baby was also throwing up. She started on Saturday so I think she was the one that passed it on to me.

And as I type this, DD8 is lying in my bed watching tv. She stayed off school because she was throwing up last night and DH is lying on the lounge looking half dead because now he has it!

Oh, and to top it all off, DH just told me that while I was out this morning, DS16 threw up his breakfast so I’m not sure if he has it too!

Yep, we’re a healthy bunch this week!

Should I?

I have an extra $50 in my purse this week. Should I:

a) get my hair cut? (I’ve been wanting to get my hair cut short again so it’s more manageable. Right now, I’ve been pulling it back in a pony tail and a new do is almost as good as a holiday!)

b) buy printer ink so I can print out the pages for my home management binder?

I think I mentioned before that I would love to travel. So far, I haven’t even been out of the state I live in! I’m hoping that maybe when the kids grow up and move out, we might have some money to go on a holiday (maybe our honeymoon since we didn’t have one when we got married!) I’d love to go to New York City travelling around like a typical tourist, go to all the main tourist attractions and take loads and loads of photos!

I’ve always wanted to go to an Oprah show too, especially if it ended up being one of her “Favourite Things” shows. Oh well, maybe one day!

Movie time!

What’s the best way to spend a cold and wet afternoon? Redeem some Blockbuster coupons, make some popcorn and hot chocolate, snuggle up on the lounge with the kiddos under a couple throw rugs and watch movies. We haven’t done this for a while but with winter here, I think doing this is going to be called for.

The problem is deciding which movie to watch! DH likes action/war type movies. DD15 and I like chick flicks. DD12 likes anything with Zac Effron in it. DD8 likes Disney movies and the baby isn’t fussed….yet!

Most of the bloggers that I chat to are on the other side of the world! So when they start chatting about the Bronx, or a certain popular store, or Outer Banks rentals I usually have absolutely no idea what they are chatting about. So, if I have time, I google so I can learn more about it and so I don’t sound so clueless next time I talk to them!

Wish Lists

It’s around this time of year that I start asking the kiddos what they would like for Christmas. It’s usually the same sort of stuff each year - phone credit, PS2 games, clothes and makeup (for the girls) and money (for the boy). I usually write a list of my wish list as well so the kids and DH have an idea of what I would like. This year, I’m asking for a Wii and Wii Fit. I was considering adding luxury watches but a luxury watch isn’t going to help me lose weight…lol

There’s no room!

If you’ve been reading my Housewife Hiccups blog, you would know that I’ve been busy doing a whole heap of decluttering and organising in our house. With not much storage, it sometimes feels like the clutter is taking over and is going to suffocate us….ok, I’m exaggerating a bit…LOL But it’s taking a while to get the house decluttered and some days I think how great it would be if I could just give my house some Leptovox so it can lose it by itself…lol

Lucky in chocolate!

I’m not that lucky in winning raffle draws, or lotto or things like that. Although I must admit (and I find it funny!) that the current promotion where you can win free Mars Bars has proved to be lucky for our family…lol This morning DD15 and I went to the shops to buy some groceries and I bought a Mars Bar for everyone. I got a free one and so did DD15. So this afternoon, DD15 went down to the corner store to redeem the free bars and when she opened one of them, it was another free bar! Pity we not that lucky in winning Hawaiian or Orlando vacations! That would be nice!
