What would you do?

We have carpets in the living room, hallway and bedrooms. Every six months or so, we get our carpets professionally cleaned but I’m in two minds about what to do with the floors.
I’ve always wanted polished floor boards. I think they would be so much easier to keep clean. But DH says we should keep the carpets and save some money by buying one of those steam cleaners instead of paying professionals to do it.
What do you prefer - carpets or polished floors?

Polished floors are NOISY and COLD, it’s easy to slip on a polished floor, they mark with scratches easily, they show up every tiny bit of dust… I HATE THEM. I’m sure there are other reasons why I hate them too… dust balls under the furniture that are OBVIOUS….
