The Internet and me
Julie @ Julie’s Journal asked to hear about people’s stories about computers and the internet.
We bought our first PC in 1998. It was a dinosaur of a thing, even back then. I think only paid a couple hundred dollars for it and really only wanted it to do word processing on. My dad installed a modem in it and we connected by on a dial-up plan. I think it was about $20 a month with a download limit. Being naive and having no idea about download size or anything, we quickly went over our limit and ended up with a bill of a couple hundred dollars!
In the few years after that, we had the internet on and off due to financial reasons.
In 2004, we bought a brand new computer. That was when I started doing digital scrapbooking and first started blogging to show off my pages. At that time I went by the user names “digimumma”, “digiscraptina” and “mumof4″. I even created a few digital scrapbook kits and sold them.
A couple of years ago, my sister upgraded to a new computer so she gave our babes her old computer. That was when I first learned about networking PC’s in the home. And just last year I got my laptop, so now the kids have the two PC’s to use.
It was only in April 2007 that I started taking blogging serious and in September, I realised that I could make some cash from blogging.
I’ve met some great friends from being online, people that I would never have met otherwise! The people I’ve met are always willing to help out and offer advice when I have any questions about blogging, themes or anything!
I now know how to download music onto my phone, be creative with our photos, html coding, and I’m always learning more about social networking and blogging! My kids are right into MySpace and DH loves to “stumble”.
It is amazing how much computers and the internet has changed in such a short time.
I’m interested in hearing about your history with computers and the internet.
On another note:
Thanks to webhostingpad, we can now make the most of any business opportunity online. Only due to verizon wireless, this access has become a possibility. From website design to the layout, we don’t have to compromise on anything.

“Digital scrapbooking” is really popular isn’t it!? I’ve came across a few sites, and I think they are so neat!
