Are you on Spock yet?
Am I the only that hadn’t signed up with Spock?! I’ve noticed it mentioned on a few blogs that I visit regularly but hadn’t checked it out until today.
Spock is a new people and information search engine. Not only will you find information about celebrities, but you can find anyone and everyone who has tagged themselves or has had someone else tag them. One of the interesting features that I found is that Spock scans the web searching for links about you. You can also tag yourself by eye colour, what you do for a living, where you live or what hobbies you have. You can also add photos to your tags.
I did a quick search on The Bold and The Beautiful (only because that is what I’m watching at the moment!). I didn’t get a whole heap of listings for fan sites and links to the show like I would if I did a Google search. Instead I found information about the actors in the show.
Not only can you find information about celebrities, but you can also search for old classmates or people who know. You could try doing a search of the name of your school to see who has tagged themselves as going to that school. This is a great way to catch up with long-lost friends!
What did surprise me was the search result for “mommy bloggers”. I expected to find page after page of my fellow mommy bloggers with links to their various blogs but I was only given one page of results. Although I was pleased to see one of my favourite bloggers listed.
As a freelance blogger, Spock is a valuable resource because I can tag myself with all the networking sites I use (such as Facebook, MyBlogLog, MySpace, etc) as well as tagging myself as a “mommy blogger” to increase exposure to my blogs. I just need to find the time to add all my tags!
